Piping Systems susceptible to vibration: AIV / FIV

Different excitation mechanisms can cause piping vibration; the induced fatigue could have catastrophic consequences and finally lead to the failure of the system. In addition to some sources of vibration historically considered (reciprocating pumps and compressors, 2 phase flow…), nowadays is becoming more demanded the study of the AIV (Acoustically Induced Vibration) and FIV (Flow Induced Vibration) in the piping systems. After introducing both phenomena, the presentation will focus on the most interesting preventive measures and commonly applied corrective actions
