Reducing pipe vibrations, especially during resonance
Schreier, Gerd
Piping systems experience occasionally unexpected vibrations. The responsible operations/maintenance engineer needs to able to determine if corrective actions need to be implemented. If changes on the piping system are imperative, he further needs to understand the source of the vibration in order to select the correct solution. Resonance effects, which are in most of the cases the cause of significant vibrations, can be avoided by changing excitation or the natural frequency. If this is not possible, four different techniques/products are available to mitigate the vibrations
